Class Expectations
In order for your children to get the most of their 90 minutes of Physical Activity a week, we need them to come to Phys Ed ready to move and learn! Students should be dressed in appropriate clothing for activity and wearing the proper footwear. Safety and liability parameters were established for Physical Education: Children must wear sneakers that fully cover the foot, with good rubber-soled support that tie and/or Velcro.
4-point PE Rubric
Students are expected to fully participate in each class. We will use a participation rubric to help determine your child's effort grade. Daily student participation is based on:
- My sneakers fully cover my foot and have laces that are securely tied or are securely velcro-ed to keep me safe. My clothes are appropriate for physical activity.
- I am ready to follow all directions the first time they are given.
- I am ready to participate in all physical activities at a VIGOROUS level.
- I will verbally and physically use positive communication skills with all teachers and students.
Medical Concerns
Safety is the most important part of PE in all our classes and during all instruction. While we want your children to fully participate, we know that sometimes they may not be able to due to illness or another medical concern. Please send in a doctor's note so that we can have your child sit out of PE. If you child has an ongoing medical condition that we should be aware of, please write us a note or email us during the first week of school.
Shoe Reminders
As you prepare for the upcoming school year, please help us keep your children safe with appropriate footwear. In order for your child to fully participate and benefit from the PE program next year, we need children to come to each class ready to learn.
